Sarah Graham

Physiotherapy

Sarah was born in Alma, Quebec and spent 4 wonderful years there before moving to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Being fully bilingual, Sarah attended French primary and secondary school and even took her first year of university in French at Université de Saint-Boniface. She later earned her Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Winnipeg. She moved to Calgary to complete her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from University of Alberta and became captivated by the city, chinooks, outdoor activities, and breathtaking mountains of Alberta.

Sarah’s treatment philosophy involves considering the person as a whole and providing tailored treatments and exercises to the individual. In practice, this means you will discuss lifestyle factors like sleep position, home and family life, breathing mechanics, posture and alignment, and footwear when relevant. Sarah will also explain assessment findings and diagnoses to keep her patients “in the loop” because when you are informed, you are empowered! Sarah enjoys helping people with any issue from head to toe, from strains and sprains to overuse injuries to fracture rehabilitation. With her goal of providing evidence-based high-quality personalized patient care, Sarah dedicates time to reviewing the most recent research on common injuries and their treatments or looking deeper into the scientific evidence about her areas of interest such as TMJ dysfunction, vestibular disorders, pelvic health, concussion care, and treatment for all levels of the spine. Most recently, Sarah became certified in biomedical dry-needling to broaden her treatment repertoire. She knows from her research and first-hand experience how dry needling can assist in a healing journey by finally releasing stubborn tight muscles! When coming to see Sarah, you can expect to work as a team to understand your body better, get treatment to reduce your symptoms, and always go home with a few key exercises.

Inclusivity and trauma-informed care are extremely important to Sarah as she believes everyone deserves to live free from discrimination, including medical care. She always aims to create a welcoming space for people of all ages, genders, sexualities, races, and cultural backgrounds - don’t be shy to be who you are with Sarah.

Outside the clinic, Sarah spends her time cooking with her celiac significant other, exploring beautiful walking trails and hikes, improving her bouldering skills, and dancing. Having trained in hip-hop and jazz as a teen and later casually explored social dances such as swing and blues as well as Latin dances like salsa, bachata, and meringue, Sarah considers herself a jack of all trades of dance. She discovered her passion for acrobatics and flow arts in adulthood and has been hooked ever since. Her favourite activities are hot yoga, partner or acro-yoga, and pole fitness, a sister sport to gymnastics, silks and hoop/lyra. Sarah has trained for 6 years in pole fitness and even taught beginner pole levels back in Winnipeg.
